Supplemental Resources for Connect4Learning® (C4L)
Connect4Learning
®
is an interdisciplinary curriculum used to support the instruction of Maryland’s Early Learning Standards (which includes Maryland’s College and Career-Ready Standards). Some of Maryland’s Early Learning Standards are not fully addressed in C4L. The information below highlights standards that need additional instruction.
Standards Included in c4L that may need additional instruction or Practice:
- PK.G.B.3- Match and sort 3-D shapes.
- PK.CC.C.6-Compare groups of up to 5, and then to 10 objects. Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by using matching and counting strategies.
- PK.OA.A.2-Decompose a quantity, less than or equal to 5, then to 10, into pairs in more than one way, e.g., by using objects or drawings.
- Decompose quantities into pairs more than one way (4th Quarter)
- PK.CC.A.3- Identify written numerals 0-10, and pair them with concrete objects first to 5 and then to 10. (3rd Quarter)

Literacy
- Concepts of Print can be taught in the book nook center and other choice time groups can be used as opportunities for students to practice with their own hands on books. Quarters one and two should be used for teacher modeling and quarters three and four students can have books in hand with guided practice.

Physical Well Being and Motor Development
- Music and movement can be incorporated as transitions of welcome time.
- Fine motor developmen t can be plugged into choice time or centers. Find ideas in the Early Childhood Handwriting Resource Guide.
- Gross Motor- ( Young Athletes Program) - It is recommended that teachers incorporate gross motor activities into outdoor play and transitions. Consider making an obstacle course in your classroom on a rainy day or request a possible gymnasium or multipurpose room time slot.

Child Abuse Prevention lessons are recommended to be taught before November conferences.
