Lesson 1: Week of 4.27 - 5.1-2
Lesson 1 Activities: 4.27 - 5.1
Song of the Day
This week's song of the day is "A-Tisket-A-Tasket" by Ella Fitzgerald. Ella was nicknamed the "First Lady of Song" because of her standout voice - everyone knew it was her singing. She lived from 1917-1996 and this song was her first popular hit, which she released when she was 19. "A-Tisket-A-Tasket" is based on a famous nursery rhyme with the same title. Listen to the song in the video below.
After watching the video, share what you thought with someone. Be sure to start your opinion with "I like the song because..." or "I don't like the song because...." and give a reason why you liked or didn't like the song. Remember some of reasons we have talked about for why you may or may not like a song:
- the lyrics - the beat
- the instruments used - the way the song makes you feel
Sing and Move
I know it has been a while since I've seen you but when we left off in March, we had done this movement video to the song "Jumpshot". Click on the Video below and dance along. Here's a reminder of some of the movements. Read through them if you want or just click on the video below to dance along with the video.
1. Step forward with one foot and then back, bringing your feet together. Alternate the foot you bring forward. Wave your hand forward while doing this.
2. Step out so your legs are as wide as your shoulders. Then bring your feet back together and move your hands like you are juggling something. Do this 4 times.
3. Pat one knee and clap, pat the other knee and clap. Jump to criss cross your feet and then pretend like you are shooting a basketball. Do this 4 times at a slow speed.
4. Repeat the same movement pattern from #3 but at a doubled speed. Do this three times and then freeze for 3 seconds.
5. Brush off your shoulders one by one, roll your arms in front of you, and then pretend like you are shooting a basketball. Do this 4 times.
6. Go back to number 1 and repeat all of the steps.
Next we will sing through one of our folk songs, "Hogs in the Cornfield". Ask someone in your home to join you for some rock, paper, scissors fun!
