Overview

Today I will learn how to move Bee-Bot to more than one location.

Motivation

STEP 1.

  Directions: Go to Slide 2 and select the play button to begin the BBC Learning - What is Coding Links to an external site. video. As you view this video, think about what what you want a computer to do and how you tell it to perform that task.

Lesson

STEP 2.

  Directions: Coding is putting directions together for a computer (or Bee-Bot!) to follow. Those directions are called algorithms. We learned about Algorithms Links to an external site. last week. Go to Slide 2 and select the play button to begin The Dance Freeze Song Links to an external site.. As you view this video, can you follow along with the directions?

Wixie Activity: Friendly Playground

STEP 3.

 Select the tab below for the appropriate coding activity for your class.

Directions: Today, you will be helping Bee-Bot meet his new friend Scratch Cat at the Playground so they can have fun together!

  • First choose the correct algorithm for Bee-Bot to meet Scratch Cat at the playground.
  • Then create algorithms for Bee-Bot and Scratch Cat to move to play on different playground equipment.  Remember to use Bee-Bot's buttons to tell him where to go!

Directions: Bee-Bot and Scratch Cat have been spending a lot of time together and are good friends! They want to meet at the playground to play.  Can you help Bee-Bot meet Scratch Cat at the playground?

  2. Next page button in Canvas 2. Select the Next button to complete your project.
  3. Scroll down icon3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. Pre-K_FriendlyPlayground_Page1 4. Select the link to open the Friendly Playground Wixie Assignment.
  5. Wixie Select Objects Tool5. Select and drag the green checkmark to the correct algorithm for Bee-Bot to meet Scratch Cat at the playground.
  6. Thumbnail of Friendly Playground Wixie Project 6. Then go to the next page and create an algorithm to help Bee-Bot and Scratch Cat go to the Swing Set and the Merry-Go-Round.

 

Select Next button at the bottom of the page to begin the Wixie activity:
