Computational Thinker Unit Planning a Path for Bee-Bot

Overview

Today I will learn how to create a sequence to reach a goal.

Motivation

STEP 1.

  Directions: Select the play button to begin What is Sequence? Links to an external site.. As you view this video, think about why it is important to have clear directions.

STEP 2.

Directions: Let's do some sequencing together using a website called Kodable. 

  1. Select the link to open Kodable Links to an external site. in a new tab.
  2. Select Make Mazes.

  3. Select Kindergarten. Kindergarten button in Kodable

  5. Follow the on screen directions to complete the sequencing puzzles.

Lesson

STEP 3.

  Directions: Follow along as your teacher demonstrates how to use the Printable Bee-Bot Cards Links to an external site. to make a plan or sequence for Bee-Bot and then carry out that plan by entering your algorithm into Bee-Bot.

Think About

  • How did your teacher move Bee-Bot from one point to another using the buttons?
  • What happens if you do not press the X to clear the Bee-Bot between the set of directions?

 

Activity

STEP 4.

  Directions: Your teacher will arrange you in groups.  With your group, use the Printable Bee-Bot Cards Links to an external site. to make a plan or sequence for your robot.  Then enter your code or algorithm into your Bee-Bot to see if your sequence will get Bee-Bot to the target provided by your teacher.
