Day 3 & 4

Overview

Today I will continue programming the code for my characters to appear like they are dancing.

Lesson

STEP 1. 

  Directions: Before we begin coding in Scratch Jr., let's make sure we review all the Student Checklist Links to an external site. for the requirements for this project. You may not have included all of these in your plan.  That's OK! Make sure as you are coding your final Dance Party that you add them in.

 

Activity: Scratch Jr

STEP 2.

Directions: Now it's your turn to begin your project by selecting your backgrounds, characters, and then creating your code to begin their dance. Follow the directions below or use the video above to help you get started.

  • Open the Scratch Jr. app. on your Chromebook.

  • Create a new project by selecting the blue + on the blank project.  Make sure you save your project as your Cornerstone - First Name or Dance Party - First Name. If you already started last week then select your Cornerstone project from last week.

  • Select your background image from your Project Plan using the background icon in the top toolbar. When you are done select the blue check mark to save your choice.

  • Pressing and holding on the cat icon until you see the red X appear. Then Select the red x button to delete the cat.

  • Now let's add our two characters to our project. Select the blue + sign on the left side of your screen to add a character.  Then select your characters from your Project Plan.  Then select the blue check mark to save your character.  Make sure you add 2 characters.

  • Remember that once you add a character you can move it around to a new spot but selecting the character and dragging it on the background. You can also edit the colors of your characters by selecting the character and selecting the paintbrush.

  • On page 1 of your project begin to write the code for your characters to dance using Dance Move 1 from your Cornerstone Planning sheet. Continue coding until your Dance is complete.

  • Remember to run your code to test it and debug as you are working.

  Directions: Select the play button to begin Getting Started Cornerstone Directions Links to an external site.. As you view this video, think about how you will code your Dance Party in Scratch Jr.
