Cornerstone Overview • Technology • Grade 3 • Digital Citizen
OVERVIEW
During the first and third quarters, third graders have engaged in a Digital Citizen unit where they learned that information posted online creates a permanent footprint, rules for communicating online using digital devices, using online tools to improve communication, collaboration, or productivity, copyright & citing sources, rights and responsibilities of creators, and creating strong and secure passwords. This unit culminates in a Cornerstone task where students will have to apply these skills to complete a task. Third graders will become travel brochure designers and travel to another country for the summer months. Students will research a country and create a travel themed project: postcard or travel brochure. Students will show ethical use of intellectual property by paraphrasing, quoting, and providing citations and demonstrate an understanding for the permanence of their travel review as part of their digital footprint.
