Cornerstone Overview • Technology • Grade 4 • Digital Citizen
OVERVIEW
During the first and third quarters, fourth graders have engaged in a Digital Citizen unit where learned how information put online impacts themselves and others, netiquette, generating solutions for dealing with cyberbullying, creating strong passwords, responsibilities in communities, and being a respectful user of content through the use of citations and attribution. This unit culminates in a Cornerstone task where students will have to apply these skills to complete a task. Fourth graders will become historians, reporting on comparisons between growing up in colonial times versus growing up in the 21st century in the form of a podcast. They will use materials from a previously taught lesson in Social Studies to guide the content. Students will demonstrate digital citizenship by citing, paraphrasing and quoting information in the podcast.
