Day 1

Overview

Today we will use what we have learned about being a digital citizen to give some advice to classmates.

Motivation

STEP 1.

We have finished our digital citizen lessons.  Now, it is time for you to show what you have learned.  Have you ever wanted to write an advice column in a newspaper? How about create your own podcast? Have you ever wanted to host a talk show or be in a commercial? Today the choice is yours!  It is your turn to be an expert on digital citizenship and give advice to some classmates who need your help.

Lesson

STEP 2.

Your teacher has been made aware of some unsafe digital citizenship practices within your class.  During a morning meeting, you were asked to anonymously write down any issues you were having with digital citizenship when using the Internet.  Below are a few examples that your teacher wants your help with.  Your assignment is to provide advice as an expert on the topic of digital citizenship.  Make sure to support your advice using the resources from our previous digital citizenship lessons.

  Directions: Below are the four scenarios that your teacher shared with you. Review each scenario and consider what advice or support you would provide each classmate.

 

 

STEP 3.

  Directions: You have three options to present your advice to your classmates, Advice Column in a Newspaper, Podcast Episode, or a Video Public Service Announcement.

 

Step 4. 

  Directions: Follow along with your teacher as you read through the project rubric.  Throughout the Cornerstone Task, your work will be assessed using the Grade 5 Digital Citizen Cornerstone Task Rubric. Links to an external site.
