Overview

Today I will review my understanding of computational thinking concepts. I will work with a group to complete challenges using code in Blockly for Dash.

STEP 1.

Directions:  Let's review what we've learned so far.  Share one thing you learned, one success, and one challenge that you had when coding Dash's and conditionals.  Share with a partner or your table and be ready to share with whole class when your teacher asks.

Activity: Coding Challenge Cards

STEP 2.

  Directions: Follow your teachers directions to get into small groups to complete the Dash Loops Challenge Cards.

Remember that for Blockly to remember what puzzles your group has completed, you must use the SAME CHROMEBOOK logged in with the SAME USERNAME each time. Record this information on your worksheet.

STEP 3.

Directions: In your groups, you will be working through three Dash Conditionals Challenge Cards to practice using If/Then Conditionals with the Dash Robot.  Follow the directions below to set up your Dash and get started.

  • Using a class Chromebook, open Dash's Blockly Puzzle PageLinks to an external site. in a new tab.

  • Make sure your Dash robot is paired with your computer.
    • Select the Orange + sign in the upper right hand corner to connect to your Dash robot.  Screenshot of orange + button in upper right cornerMake sure that you do this away from other groups who are also using a Dash robot.
    • Once your Dash is connected you will see a Dash robot in the upper right hand corner. Screenshot indicating that your dash robot has been connected in the upper right corner.
  • Select Puzzles.  Select My Projects.

  • Select Blank Project and name your project "Conditionals." Press create to begin. 

STEP 4.

    Directions: Follow your teachers directions to complete your assigned challenge card with Dash.  Remember to read the card and follow all steps using Blockly on your Chromebook. If you finish early, select another challenge to try.
