Grade K Digital Citizen Cornerstone Task Summary

Summary

After reviewing digital citizenship concepts, students will work in groups of two or three to create creatures, first on paper and then online using a website such as Build your Wild Self Links to an external site.or SwitchZoo. Links to an external site. Creatures will have attributes of good digital citizens who are able to stay safe and be good friend while online.  When complete, students will share their creature with the class and at least one fact about digital citizenship.

Considerations

  • If students are in a group of 3 they can rotate
    • Partner 2 completes Partner 1
    • Partner 3 completes Partner 2
    • Partner 1 completes Partner 3
  • If you choose to use Canvas, edit the module so students have easy access to the website you have chosen to use.
  • It is easiest to print the creatures students create online. The students can also take a screenshot, save the picture to their computer and upload the picture to the assignment in Canvas.

  • Students can create an actual creature with pre-cut pieces.
