Grade 2-5 EL: Keyboarding
Expectations
- Grades 2-5 will use the Typing Agent in order to learn proper touch typing techniques and increase WPM and Accuracy.
- Technology Teachers will introduce keyboarding and the Typing Agent interface during Technology class during late September.
- Technology Teachers will provide professional learning for Grade 2-5 teams at a scheduled PIP time during the month of October.
- Keyboarding responsibility will transition to classroom teachers at the end of first quarter.
- Keyboarding should be done in short bursts of no more than 15 minutes at a time. Ideally, students should practice keyboarding for 15/20 minutes 3 or 4 times per week.
- Technology Teachers will continue to work with Grade 2-5 classroom teachers throughout the school year to assist with the implementation of keyboarding during their instruction.
Timeline
August/September
- Student Accounts Reset
- Review Classes in Typing Agent for any errors through Clever syncing.
September
- Introduce Typing Agent in Technology Class (Lessons can be found in the Student Facing Modules & Resources Section )
- Placement Tests for students
- Establish proper keyboarding techniques and practices in Technology Class
- Set up Professional Learning Meetings with Grades 2-5 teams
October
- Provide Professional Learning for Grade 2-5 teams
- Assist with the transition of keyboarding practice to Grades 2-5 classroom teachers.
November & Beyond
- Continued support and professional learning. Consider sharing weekly tips and tricks or helpful hints, co-teaching, or collaboration meetings.

Target Settings
The Target Settings for Lesson Targets have been modified at a district level to match the goals on the PK-5 Technology Skills Checklist. Teachers have the ability to manually adjust these settings as needed based on the individual needs of the student.
