Assessment Evidence

The students will demonstrate their understanding through consistent computer use and by completing a performance task in Wixie.
The teacher will collect and evaluate the students responses on the performance tasks to determine if the student is able to apply each technology skill.
The teacher will keep anecdotal records of the observable skills to determine if the student is able to apply each technology skill.
The Grade 1 Technology Skills Checklist will be used to evaluate whether the student is able to apply each technology skill.
The focus of the Grade 1 Performance Task is to provide the teacher a means in which to assess the technology skills checklist as well as help develop students who are productive and problem solvers when using technology in the classroom setting.

Performance Task

Understandings/Skills	Assessment Evidence
Identify parts of a computer and its peripherals - CPU, USB port, sound port	The student will label each part of the computer using words on a Wixie template.
Drag a document to designated location	The student will be able to drag a document to an assigned location.**
Select appropriate printer to print	The student will print their work to the designated printer.
Recognize and use icons to perform computer and software functions - print, save, undo, redo, bold, italic, underline, text color, highlight, fill, home button, back button	The student will recognize and use icons to work more efficiently on the computer.
Turn on, restart, & shut-down computer/mobile device	The student will turn on, restart, and shut down the computer independently when required.**
Launch a web browser	The student will be able to click to launch the recommended web browser.**
Use basic navigation buttons - forward, home, refresh, stop	The student will use the forward, home, refresh and stop buttons to navigate frequently visited websites.**
Use undo/redo tools	The students will label the undo button with an X in a Wixie Template.
Select and edit text - font size, font type, font style, font color	The student will change the font size, type, style, and color in a Wixie Template.
Modify an image/object - i.e. rotate, flip, resize, change colors, patterns	The student will flip, rotate, resize, and modify a fish clip art on a Wixie template.
Use tools/applications to create original images, videos, audio	The student will paint a picture of themselves inside a frame on a Wixie template using multiple colors and patterns.
Open and view a presentation or presentation template in slideshow mode	The student will open a presentation or template and display in slide show mode for viewing.**
Troubleshoot headphones and problems with sound	The student will be able to troubleshoot audio problems by checking the connection and volume controls.**
List steps to move a character around a map	The student will use a computational thinking activity in Code.org to move a character on a map.**
Arrange directions to reach predetermined goal	The student will use a computational thinking activity in Code.org to arrange the directions to reach a goal**
Convert a series of multiple actions into a single loop	The student will use a computational thinking activity in Code.org to create a loop from a series of multiple actions.**

Lesson Plan

The applied skills found on the Grade 1 Tech Skills Checklist are designed to be embedded into technology infused lessons taught by both the Technology Teacher and Classroom Teacher. When planning lessons from existing Grade One curriculum that incorporate technology, the teacher should refer to the Tech Skills Checklist and provide instruction and monitor student progress for developing skills and applied skills. Teachers should collaborate to continue to provide opportunities to practice these skills when appropriate in the Grade One Curriculum.
