Cornerstone Task

Cornerstone tasks provide students with an opportunity to create authentic products that are based on standards and connect to real-world careers.  Students will be empowered to create a product of lasting value by engaging in meaningful tasks facilitated by an educator. Each task will provide equity, differentiation, and student choice to allow for students to reach milestones for success.

Cornerstone Summary

Third grade students will learn first hand how social media can improve productivity.  Students will invent an ice cream flavor and provide a detailed description of the ice cream flavor.   Students will share their ice cream flavor cards on a class google slide. Students will peer review the ice cream flavors and provide feedback.  Students will use the feedback in order to reflect on their invention to determine what changes are needed in order to make the ice cream flavor sell better at a grocery store.

Assessment Evidence

Students will experience how online communication can influence productivity by reflecting on peer feedback from their unique product creation.  The creativeness and detail of the ice cream flavor, the feedback given to peers and the reflection of the feedback received will be used to evaluate this cornerstone task.

U6a. Students choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or communication.

Students will use the editing tools of Wixie to create their ice cream flavor cards.  Students will use Google Slide to share the ice cream flavor cards and provide peer feedback.  

U6b. Students create original works or responsibly re-purpose or remix digital resources into new creations

Students will create Wixie Ice Cream Flavor Cards.

Students will provide respectful feedback using comments in Google Slides.
