Cornerstone Summary

Fifth grade students will collaborate on selecting tools for a difficult situation, a sinking ship.  The students take on different roles and will need to make a unified decision within a short time frame.  They will have 10 minutes to select 10 items to take with them on a lifeboat until they are rescued. Once the decision is made, they must provide rationale for their choices.  They may use any platform available, to present the rationale. Teamwork is challenging for many people. The students will provide peer feedback to each of their teammates about their performance in the team.  Each student will also reflect on their own personal experiences within the team.

Assessment Evidence

Students will work as a team to create a rationale presentation that shows the choices the their team made with the reason for the choices.  The way each student works collaboratively within the team on and off the computer is the focus of this task. This will be assessed through teacher observation and peer/self reflection.
