Lesson: Global Cultural Connection
A lesson seed collection is a menu of ideas that can be used to build a lesson. To build a lesson, select a Motivator Seed, a Lesson Seed, and a Assessment & Closure Seed. Use the Additional Activities and Resources for additional ideas, and remember to cue videos prior to instruction in order to avoid advertisements.

Reading

Writing

Links to an external site. - (Blogs) Create a teacher website (you can have multiple editors on a teacher website so that you can collaborate with another class across the county) and include blog pages so students can blog with each other in class. Be sure to consider monitoring options when setting up the blogs for students. Since "Weebly" is a supplemental digital tools, please provide parents and option to opt out and follow guidelines on the Supplemental Digital Tools list.

3rd Grade Social Studies Unit 2 “Growing Communities”, , How do cultures from around the world affect our communities? -- Procedure 1 -- Tell students they will learn about lives from children around the world.
- “Immigration Stories of Yesterday and Today Links to an external site..” After you “Meet Young Immigrants,” you can use “Skype in the Classroom Links to an external site.” to set up a project to talk to a classroom from another country. You may also find someone in your school community who immigrated from that country who could Skype or participate in a class blog.

Interact with users from different communities on projects with teacher facilitation.
- Students can evaluate the information they received and discuss the benefits of real time communication.

Demonstrate appropriate digital citizenship during telecommunication with others outside our own community.
- Create a checklist of appropriate online behavior.
- Students write a summary of what they learned during the discussion.
- Have students elevate or vote on which wall design would be the safest for Humpty Dumpty and why.
