Zach Koung

Zach Koung Links to an external site. is a senior at Howard High School, where he is a member of Mu Alpha Theta (Mathematics Honor Society), Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society), Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honor Society), National Honor Society, Student Government Association and a Lion Leader. As the president for the Future Business Leaders of America Career and Technical Student Organization, he helps provide many students with business skill opportunities.

In addition to being active in many clubs and organizations, Zach engages in political advocacy both within and outside of school, in organizations and campaigns such as the Young Democrats of Howard County, the Howard County Sunrise Movement, the Youth Voices Initiative with the It Gets Better nonprofit, and Jill P. Carter for Congress. As an advocate for progressive change in the community and country, Zach has attended several protests in the community and Washington, D.C.

Having served on Dr. Martirano’s Student Advisory Council and as his school’s sophomore class president, Zach is prepared to serve and represent all students of Howard County. Zach plans to offer students many opportunities to provide feedback on how to better serve them, especially with the likelihood of online learning in the fall.
