Snowball
Kindergarten Mathematics
Closure: Snowball
Standards for Mathematical Practices: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
In this closure activity, students answer a question and/or solve an equation. Afterwards, students toss their snowball up in the air and then pick up a snowball that lands near them. Students then find a partner. With their partner, students compare and/or contrast the answer on the snowball they picked up. Or students can discuss whether or not they agree with the answer on the snowball they picked up.
Suggestions for Kindergarten:
- Draw a shape with four sides
- What number comes before 8?
- What number comes after 19?
- 2 + 3 =
- Represent 16
Possible Questions for Discussion:
1. How was the answer/solution on the snowball you picked up the same as your solution? your partner's snowball?
2. How was the answer/solution on the snowball you picked up different from your solution? your partner's snowball?
3. Do you have a question about the answer on your snowball? your partner's snowball?
