Develop logical reasoning skills by observing closely and classifying according to attributes.
Make inferences about how to classify objects according to attributes using the Notice, Think, Wonder strategy.

Below are the slides from our Google Meet lesson for Kindergarten Primary Talent Development.

Activity: Let's interpret pictures!

STEP 2.

Let's observe some art and practice the Notice, Think, Wonder strategy just like we did together in our Google Meet.

Pick one of the two pictures below. When you click on the link next to the picture, you will see an assignment where you can talk about and record what you notice, think, and wonder.
As you look at each picture, remember to:

Notice.
- Observe closely. Use your senses to notice as much as you can.
- Keep asking yourself, "What else do I notice?"
Think.
- Think about the following questions:
  - What did you notice in the picture? How do those things go together?
  - What is happening in this picture? What did I notice that makes me think that?
Wonder.

Let your mind start to ask questions about what you think is happening in the picture. Start each question with, "I wonder." Some examples are below:
- I wonder if the people in the picture are a family.
- I wonder why the sky is purple in this picture.

Activity: Create Your Play Picture

STEP 3.

Now it is your turn! All of our pictures had to do with playing. The kids were playing on the beach, the musicians were playing their instruments, and the girl was playing with her pinwheel.

How do you play? What do you like to do?

What do you notice when you play?
What do you think about?
What do you wonder?

Make a picture of you playing. Maybe you play outside, maybe you play games with your family, or maybe you play by doing art or music. You can make your picture using any of the ways that we have seen in this lesson. You decide which one you would like to try!

Make a picture as Jacob Lawrence did by using paints.
Make a picture in the Cubist style by drawing shapes and then coloring them in with bold colors, as Picasso did.
Try ripping small pieces of paper and gluing them as Kirstie Adamson did.

When you finish, share your work with a family member. Help them to first notice all that they can about your picture. Then, have them tell what they think is happening in the picture. Finally, help them to wonder by stating, "I wonder.."

Now, take a picture of your artwork and send it to your teacher or Mrs. Roussillon. See what your teacher notices, thinks, and wonders about your picture.
