Once you open this assignment, you will only have 50 minutes to complete and submit your writing, so make sure that you have set yourself up in an optimal situation to work. The general recommended timing to complete this task is approximately 40 minutes. I don't want you to focus too much on time at this point, but it is still a factor.
When you open the assignment, your time will start. Make sure that you read the text carefully, noting the rhetorical choices as well as the purpose of the text. It may be helpful to use a SPACECAT organizer or even a rhetorical precis template from the class collection. Whatever you decide to do, remember that planning before you begin writing is extremely important.
The following scaled rubric will remain in effect through the third quarter so that you may earn adequate points for each of the timed essays you complete.
