Closure - Peer Assessment
Standards for Mathematical Practices: 1, 3, 6, 8
In this closure activity, the teacher provides students with a statement or statements of what is being learned in math class. Students reflect on these statements and use these to assess each other's work to indicate what their partner has learned and what their partner still needs to work on.
One method for peer assessment is Two Stars and a Wish. Download Two Stars and a Wish.
Questions you could ask:
- What is the same about your work and your partner's work? What is different?
- Is there another possible answer? If so, explain.
- Is there another way to solve the problem?
- Does anyone want to revise their answer?
- Is this a reasonable answer?
- What do you think about what your partner said?
- Can you help your partner without telling them the answer?
- Do you have a question for your partner?
