Overview
Grade 1 Mathematics is designed to prepare students to be college and career ready. The course scope and sequence has been developed using the standards documents linked below.
MAJOR, SUPPORTING, AND ADDITIONAL CLUSTERS FOR GRADE 1 are outlined below. Students should spend the large majority of their time on the major work of the grade. Supporting and additional work can be engage students in the major work. Refer to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics for the specific standards that fall within each cluster.
- Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction. 1.OA.A (MAJOR)
- Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction. 1.OA.B (MAJOR)
- Add and subtract within 20. 1.OA.C (MAJOR)
- Work with addition and subtraction equations. 1.OA.D (MAJOR)
- Extending the counting sequence. 1.NBT.A (MAJOR)
