Logging into the Canvas Parent App

Overview

The Canvas Parent app is designed to help parents/guardians monitor their middle or high school children’s progress on the go. The app allows parents to check grades, review assignments and events, view course announcements, see a weekly calendar, and set student activity alerts, such as missing assignments or grades above or below a set threshold. Parents can easily swipe between profiles to view information for multiple children.

Directions

1. Select Log in with Canvas [A]. Enter Howard County Public Schools. When the full name appears in the search list, tap the name.

2. The message Enter your Canvas Observer credentials will appear briefly at the top of the page. Once on the login screen, scroll down and enter your HCPSS Connect username and password [A].

3.Tap the Add Student icon [A]. Enter Howard County Public Schools. When the full name appears in the search list, tap the name.

4. The message Enter student's login information will appear briefly at the top of the page. Once on the login screen, scroll down and enter your child's username and password [A].

NOTE: Additional children can be entered once logged in by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner of the app.
