Equity Resources

Purpose

Expectations

During the first week of school, all teachers will build community to create a positive learning environment that ensures equity in the classroom. Creating a community is an expectation for all staff that begins on the first day of school and builds throughout the year. Below are our system outcomes critical to building a positive learning community. Suggested lesson seeds for each of our systemwide outcomes are included for use with students. These resources provide suggestions and guidance for students to meet the outcomes. Other lessons that meet these system outcomes may also be used in lieu of the lessons provided.

Outcomes

Students will be able to:

  1. Share that classrooms are a community
  2. Identify that each and every individual contributes to the classroom community
  3. Identify norms for respectful, trusting, and safe engagement in the community
  4. Define equity and how it looks, sounds, and feels in our community
