Routines - What Time is It?

This routine helps students learn how to tell time and to understand time related concepts. Students will benefit from ongoing mini-lessons and practice with these skills.

Practice can include:

  • Setting their clocks to times suggested by the teacher or their partner.
  • Showing a time written in digital format on their analog clocks.
  • Using digital format to record a time shown on the class analog clock.
  • Helping the teacher set the demonstration clock to particular times by describing the position of the hands.
  • Discussions may also begin to include important times in the day, what typically happens at certain times of day, the passage of time, and the duration of time periods.
