Grade 5 Technology Computational Thinker Unit
Overview
During the second and third quarters, fifth graders will learn how to navigate and identify key parts when coding in Scratch. They will learn how to use different command blocks to create algorithms that include timing in dialogue and movement. Students will learn how to set the starting positions for sprites and use more advanced coding elements such as broadcast messaging to allow for movement. The unit will conclude with students beginning to map out a story that includes sprites, backdrops, dialogue, and movement using code.
