Grade 5 Computational Thinker Let's Get Moving!

DAY 1

Overview

Today I will learn how to set the starting positions of sprites.

Lesson

STEP 1.

  Directions: Select the play button to begin Setting the Start Position of Sprites Links to an external site.. As you view this video, think about why you need to set the starting position of a sprite. Later, you will remix this project and set the starting position yourself.

STEP 2.

  Directions: Select the Directions tab and follow along with your teacher to get started.  Select the Video Tutorial tab, if you need additional help.

FILE NAME: Lets Get Moving- FirstName

 

  • Select File and then Load from your Computer in the drop down menu.

  • Select Recent and then select Lets Get Moving HCPSS .sb3 file that you downloaded in the first step.

  • Select Open.

  • You now have a remix of the Lets Get Moving HCPSS in your CS First account under Projects to complete today's activity.

  Directions: Select the play button to begin Remixing Adding Movement to a Broadcast Video Tutorial Links to an external site.. As you view this video, follow the directions to get started with your Let's Get Moving Project.

Activity

STEP 3.

Directions: Now it's your turn to set the starting position for Abby and Avery. Remember that your your project should include the following:

  • Abby always starting on the left side of the screen when the green flag is pressed
  • Avery always starting on the right side of the screen when the green flag is pressed
  • Abby and Avery should glide to meet in the middle

Select the Next button at the bottom of the page to move on to Day 2 of this lesson.
