Grade 4 Computational Thinker Building Questions
Overview
Today I will learn that there are many different ways to solve a problem using computational thinking. I will use patterns and trends in data to inform my decisions.

STEP 1.
Directions: Today we are going to build trivia questions in a Maze using Scratch with CS First. Select the Directions tab to get started. Select the Video Tutorial tab, if you need additional help.
Directions: Follow the directions below to help you get started with your Building Questions Scratch Project.
- Select the link to open the Building Questions HCPSS Links to an external site. Scratch template.
- Select the download icon in the upper right corner to download the file to your Chromebook.

- Sign in to CS First Links to an external site..
- Select the Blue + button and then select New Project in the drop down menu to open a new project.

- Name your file in the blue text box found in the top menu bar.

- Select File and then Load from your Computer in the drop down menu.

- Select Recent and then select Building Questions HCPSS.sb3 file that you downloaded in the first step.

- Select Open.

- You now have a remix of the Building Questions HCPSS in your CS First account under Projects to complete today's activity.
Directions: Select the play button to begin Remixing Building Trivia Questions - Video Tutorial Links to an external site.. As you view this video, follow the directions to get started with your If_Then_Else Questions HCPSS project.

STEP 2.
Directions: Follow along with your teacher as they provide directions to help you get started with the Building Questions HCPSS project in Scratch for CS First.
Activity
STEP 3.
Directions: Now that you know how this maze works and that it has finished purple obstacles, you will work to complete the following obstacles events:
- Pink Obstacle
- Brown Obstacle
When you are finished, make sure that your work has saved and go back to your Dashboard in CS First.
Select the Next Page button at the bottom of the page to save and turn in your work digitally to your teacher.
If You Finish Early
Directions: If you finish early, try this jumbled maze as a challenge. This maze has all the coding blocks needed to remix a working maze in the workspace but they got all mixed up. You need to attach the blocks together in the correct sequence in order to make the maze work. There might be extra blocks there too, which you should ignore or delete. If you get it right, the cat will be able to make it to the red finish line using the arrow keys.
- Download and Load the Jumbled Maze HCPSS Links to an external site. in a New Project within your CS First Account. (this is the same process that we have done for the past three lessons.)
- Name the Project - Jumbled Maze Bonus - FirstName
