Cornerstone Summary
In this activity students will gather data from an online source. They will interpret the data using a question provided by the teacher, brainstormed by the class or developed independently and decide on a means to display their interpretation. Included in their display will be information about at least one other geographic area where data were collected.
Assessment Evidence
Students will use an online site with data collected from a number of different areas to draw conclusions about how organisms interact with their habitats. Students create a way to demonstrate what they learned, including information about how habitats differ. Students will achieve their goals if they are able to locate and collect relevant data from the website, create a presentation utilizing that data, and contextualize the data by providing information about at least one geographic area that is different from their own. Students demonstrate the ability to gather information from a website on which there are data that are collected collaboratively, use the data to draw conclusions and then present those conclusions. Students justify their choice of presentation tool.
