Grade 3 Communication and Collaboration: Global Solution (In Development)
Grade 3 Creative Communicator/Global Collaborator
Lesson: Global Solutions
A lesson seed collection is a menu of ideas that can be used to build a lesson. To build a lesson, select a Motivator Seed, a Lesson Seed, and a Assessment & Closure Seed. Use the Additional Activities and Resources for additional ideas, and remember to cue videos prior to instruction in order to avoid advertisements.
HCPSS Content Standards

Essential Questions
-
How do you work in a collaborative team to find the best solution?
Outcomes
- Working in pairs or small groups with assigned roles, use digital tools to explore specific subject-related concepts or content and present problem solutions or create original works using appropriate tools (e.g., animation and drawing software, visual data tools, graphic organizers, simulation development tools, programming languages, video camera, editing software, music software).
Vocabulary
- digital tools
- EDP (Engineering Design Process)

- 3rd Grade Science Skill Process - Experimentation. “G3_Q2_L10_SNB_p30_SR.pdf.doc Links to an external site.” introduces the Engineering Design Process for “Design a Playground.” This lesson is another option to collaborate with the classroom teacher.
Motivator Seeds: Multiple Means of Engagement
Seed 1
Have students work in groups to help solve problems in this simulation, “Simple Machines Links to an external site.”. This takes about 10 minutes. Discuss how your team found the best solutions. Did they need to try multiple times or were they able to get it on the first try. Why? List some good attributes to use while working as a team. You can use Inspiration RapidFire tool and turn the web into a slide using the Presentation tool.
