Grade 5 Communication and Collaboration

Lesson: Team Building

A lesson seed collection is a menu of ideas that can be used to build a lesson. To build a lesson, select a Motivator Seed, a Lesson Seed, and a Assessment & Closure Seed. Use the Additional Activities and Resources for additional ideas, and remember to cue videos prior to instruction in order to avoid advertisements.

  • Have students brainstorm why a favorite sports team is so successful (qualities of the team and its members).

Benetonplay! Flipbook! Links to an external site.” - Animation website that allows students to create 100 frames. Use to create an animation of the water cycle or the events leading up to the war for independence. Export the completed animation and embed it into a webpage, wiki, or blog.

Links to an external site. - Students could use Frames 5, Pixie, or Google Drawing Links to an external site. to use the EDP to design and create a robot with a specific purpose in small groups. Or, if resources are available, students can create real robots and photograph or videotape the robots in action and insert them into a Google Presentation. Students can collaborate on the Google Presentation.

While completing this lesson, students can Skype with an artist who makes art with recycled materials. Students can design a new recycling or composting program for the school.
