Grade 4 Computational Thinker Cornerstone Task Lesson

Motivation
Multiple Means of Motivation:
- Review Cornerstone Overview with students.
- Introduce/Review Key Vocabulary that students may be familiar with.
- Show students the Cornerstone Maze Requirements Tutorial video provided in the SF Module. Consider having students sit on the floor to watch the video.
- Pause the video periodically to ask students questions about the task requirements and check for understanding.
Learning Target:

Lesson
Multiple Means of Representation:
- Demonstrate for students how to make a copy of the Cornerstone Maze Requirements
Links to an external site. Google Doc. They will use this document throughout the Cornerstone.
- Make a copy

- Share with Tech Teacher
- Review with students the Cornerstone Maze Requirements Links to an external site. and emphasize using the model on the requirements sheet. Consider providing a printed copy of the requirements for students to reference and track progress.
- Review with students the Cornerstone Task Rubric Links to an external site.Links to an external site.
- Allow time for students to ask questions as needed. Remind students that each row on the rubric connects to a portion of the Cornerstone Task.
- Tell them that they should refer back to the rubric as they are working.
- Tell students that they will be writing out trivia questions that they will use when coding their Maze.
- Guide students to select the Trivia Questions option that you have selected for the class. Alternatively, you can allow students to self-select.

- Ask students what they remember about the requirements we discussed the previous class for our Cornerstone Task. Tell students that today we are going to begin to code our mazes using Scratch for CS First.

- Review with students how to manage multiple tabs in their Chrome browser. They will need to do this throughout the Cornerstone Task.
