Motivator Seeds: Multiple Means of Engagement
Seed 1
- Use FaceTime with a parent or staff member who has lived in or visited another continent. Have students ask questions about the culture of that location. Ask students why this technology tool was good or what did not work when using this technology tool.
Seed 2
- Use a global communication website, such as “ePals Global Community Links to an external site.”, “Skype in the Classroom Links to an external site.”, that allows students to safely talk to students in another part of the world.
Seed 3
- Have students use a teacher created presentation in Google Slides to share a family tradition. Students could have a slide where they could add images and/or text describing a family tradition. Students would then view their classmates’ slides and add comments, such as “My family does this too.” or “That sounds like fun!” Students often associate traditions with holiday celebrations; please keep in consideration the time of year and holidays being celebrated. All families have traditions related to eating certain foods or going certain places which students could share.
