All Profile Settings

On the Account > Settings screen you may configure preferences for you Canvas account:

Secondary Email Address

Canvas automatically receives student's HCPSS email address or parent's primary email address (from Family File). You may add an additional email address to your Canvas account if you prefer to receive Canvas notifications at that email. Students, if you are adding a second email address to your account, you must still leave your @inst.hcpss.org email marked as the primary email for your Canvas account. Certain tools, like Actively Learn, will not work if you set a personal email as the primary email.

To add a second email to your account:

  1. Navigate to Account > Settings
  2. On the right side of the screen, open the +Add Email Address link
  3. Enter the email.
  4. Canvas will send a confirmation message to the new address. 
  5. Once confirmed, Canvas can start sending notifications to the new address. You will need to set your notification preferences for the new address.

Profile Picture

On the Settings screen, you may add a profile image or avatar to your account. Canvas will use your initials as your profile image if you have not added an image.

  1. Select the pencil icon on the profile image.
  2. Upload a picture or choose take a photo to use your computer's camera to take the photo.
  3. Save.

Pronouns

On the settings screen you may choose to add pronouns to your Canvas display name. On the screens where people can see your name in Canvas, they will see your selected pronouns. Teachers, classmates, and your parent/guardian can all see your pronouns in Canvas. Pronouns are optional and you do not need to make a selection. (More about pronouns).

  1. Select the Edit Setting button on the right side of the screen.
  2. Choose your pronouns from the drop-down and select Update to save.
