The HCPSS Visual Arts program educates students through rigorous and meaningful child-centered learning experiences.  Visual arts instruction is designed to foster 21st century skills encompassing critical and creative thinking, self-direction, perseverance, and accountability in the making of personal works of art.

Art is Discovery

Through play, experimentation and guided instruction young children discover the joy of making art.  This is a time of discovery, and through the process of making young children expand their imagination, build vocabulary explaining their work, develop fine motor skills, engage in problem solving, and increase their attention span..  Studio experiences help children to communicate visually their understanding of who they are, what they know, experience, and imagine in their world.
